The Implementation of Aqidah Akhlak Learning in Shaping Students’ Character at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Abadiyah Banjarmasin
Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of Aqidah Akhlak learning in shaping students’ character at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Abadiyah, West Banjarmasin, and to identify the factors influencing its implementation. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through field research. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the Aqidah Akhlak teacher, the madrasah head, administrative staff, and students of Grades VII and VIII, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and verification. The findings indicate that implementation was conducted through systematic lesson planning, varied instructional practices, continuous learning motivation, effective classroom management, and routine evaluation. Character formation was supported by teacher role modelling, understandable learning methods, positive teacher–student interaction, student interest, adequate learning resources, and a supportive school environment. The study’s novelty lies in showing how these elements operate as an integrated implementation pattern in a small urban madrasah context, where character formation is not treated as a separate program but is embedded in everyday Aqidah Akhlak instruction. The findings also indicate that the process remains developmental because a small number of students still require additional motivation and supervision
