Review on Comparative Analysis of Pre-Engineered Building (PEB)Versus Conventional Steel Structures

Oct 2026 · International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology · Vol 16 · 0 citations · 5 references

Abstract

The PEB method is compared with the CSB method in this research through a quantitative analysis which considers the factors of structural performance, material consumption, and price. The main feature of PEBs is a factory-made structure that is engineered to use steel efficiently and also employs tapered members, modular components, and standardized fabrication techniques. All these result in quicker assembly up to 90%, cutting down on man-hours and avoiding mistakes on installation. Even though the PEBs are subjected to gravity, wind, and earthquake loads, they are reliable from a structural performance standpoint. On the contrary, CSBs depend on the use of traditional hot-rolled sections and onsite fabrication which gives the designer more freedom but results in heavier buildings, more materials consumed, and longer construction times. Shear forces, bending moments, deflection, support reactions, and total cost are among the parameters that the study will evaluate for both systems using structural analysis tools. The findings will show that not only do PEBs use considerably less steel, but they also shorten the construction period and the total project cost, thus allowing for structural safety and serviceability. The research will validate the assertion that PEBs are an everlasting solution that is not only sustainable but also efficient and cost-effective for the industrial and warehouse sector and, therefore, they are becoming more and more important in modern construction practices and at the same time giving more advantages compared to the conventional steel building techniques.

Environmental and Structural Performance of C60 and DP1000 Steel Shoe Shanks: A Combined LCA and FEA Approach

Steelgrade selection can influence both the environmental impact and structural performance of manufactured products. This study evaluates these trade-offs for a footwear shoe shank by combining Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to compare a conventional heat-treated C60 steel with a DP1000...

Issues with designing industrial concrete slabs on ground using modulus of subgrade reaction

Modulus of subgrade reaction, also known as spring stiffness, is commonly referenced in engineering textbooks and routinely adopted by structural engineers in their slabs on ground design for industrial facilities (e.g., warehouse slabs). From a geotechnical perspective, the spring stiffness is not an intrinsic materia...

Conceptual principles for the comprehensive assessment of the performance of the “Reinforced embankment – corrugated steel structure” system in civil engineering

For corrugated steel structures embedded in an embankment, design assessment is complicated by the dependence of the shell’s performance on the condition of the backfill, the subgrade and the construction technology. The aim of this work was to determine the interrelationship between the parameters of the metal shell,...
