Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) intervention in reducing anxiety and enhancing students' school engagement at Androkli Kostallari School in Shkozë. The target group consists of first, second, and fifth-grade students, selected due to a high prevalence of students from divorced families, a demographic known to face heightened emotional and behavioral challenges. The study employs a qualitative methodology, integrating descriptive data to assess the impact of the SEL intervention. Teachers, trained in SEL techniques, implemented activities in the classroom while receiving continuous mentorship. Data were collected through teachers' reports on student progress, with a focus on emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and physical aspects of student well-being. The results indicated significant improvements in students' emotional regulation, behavior, cognitive skills, and physical well-being, contributing to a more positive and engaging school environment. This study underscores the importance of SEL in fostering emotional resilience and academic success, particularly for students facing family-related stressors.
