Intensity/polarization-based visible/infrared dual-band composite detection system
Abstract
To address the stray light interference problem faced by photoelectric detection systems in complex environments, conventional single-mode optical detection suffers from significant limitations in all-weather operation, stray light suppression, and anti-interference capability. In this paper, a visible/infrared dual-band composite detection system based on intensity and polarization is proposed and investigated, enabling high-dynamic detection in complex environments and all-weather acquisition of multi-dimensional target information. First, based on the imaging principle of optical systems and target radiation characteristics, a physical model characterizing the system parameters and performance is established. Then, a common-aperture configuration is adopted to design the visible/infrared dual-band composite detection optical system incorporating both intensity and polarization channels. Finally, system performance analysis is conducted, and the results show that the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the system approaches the diffraction limit. Compared with single-mode optical detection, the dynamic range (DR) is increased by 6 dB. This study lays a technical foundation for the development of high-dynamic detection systems and the acquisition of multi-modal target data.
