Abstract

Christian Religious Education plays a vital role in shaping the character and spirituality of church members within a modern society. However, in practice, faith education often focuses primarily on individual cognitive and spiritual aspects, while the dimension of fostering social maturity has not received adequate attention. This study aims to analyze the direction and orientation of Christian Religious Education in shaping socially mature church members within a pluralistic society. A qualitative approach utilizing the library research method was employed. Data were gathered from various sources—such as books, scholarly journal articles, and documents relevant to Christian Religious Education and pluralistic societal life—and analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify key concepts regarding social maturity from a Christian faith perspective. The findings indicate that social maturity within the Christian faith is manifested through an attitude of love, respect for differences, social responsibility, and the ability to build harmonious relationships within the community. Christian Religious Education needs to adopt a holistic, inclusive, dialogical, and contextual approach to shape church members who are not only spiritually mature but also socially mature. In this way, Christian Religious Education can contribute to fostering a peaceful, tolerant, and harmonious society amidst diversity.
