Abstract

Ministry is a tangible expression of Christian faith and a shared responsibility among congregants in building up church life. However, some congregants still experience fear, feelings of inferiority, self-doubt, and a lack of confidence when accepting ministry responsibilities. This study aims to analyze the importance of building the self-confidence of the Antiokhia Sintang Church congregation in ministry from a Christian faith perspective and to formulate strategies for congregational empowerment. This study employs a qualitative method through a literature review and theological-contextual reflection on ministry, self-confidence, spiritual gifts, calling, and congregational nurture. The findings indicate that self-confidence depends not only on personal abilities but also on the conviction that every believer is called, accompanied, and equipped by God according to their spiritual gifts. Strategies for developing self-confidence include identifying spiritual gifts, providing gradual ministry opportunities, mentoring, training, appreciation, constructive evaluation, and church community support. The novelty of this study lies in integrating self-confidence, divine calling, and God's presence within the Walking by Faith framework as a foundation for congregational empowerment. The church plays a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive ministry environment. In conclusion, strengthening self-confidence helps congregants overcome fear, develop their potential, and serve with humility, responsibility, and commitment. Thus, ministry becomes a means of spiritual growth, character formation, and the sustainable strengthening of Antiokhia Sintang Church.
