PENDIDIKAN KEWIRAUSAHAAN DAN NIAT BERWIRAUSAHA MAHASISWA: PERAN MEDIASI EFIKASI DIRI DAN MOTIVASI KEWIRAUSAHAAN
Abstract
Entrepreneurship education is regarded as an important strategy for developing students' entrepreneurial intention, yet its direct effect remains inconsistent. This study analyzes the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention through the parallel mediation of self-efficacy and entrepreneurial motivation among Economics Education students at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, class of 2023. A quantitative cross-sectional design was applied to 129 students who had taken the Entrepreneurship Education course. Data were collected through an online questionnaire (56 items, five-point Likert scale) adapted from Maradiaga-Lopez et al. (2026) and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that entrepreneurship education had no significant direct effect on entrepreneurial intention (β = -0.111; p = 0.228), but had a positive and significant effect on self-efficacy (β = 0.773; p < 0.001) and entrepreneurial motivation (β = 0.527; p < 0.001). Self-efficacy had no significant effect on entrepreneurial intention (β = 0.164; p = 0.162), whereas entrepreneurial motivation had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.790; p < 0.001). Entrepreneurial motivation mediated the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention (β = 0.416; p < 0.001), while self-efficacy did not (β = 0.127; p = 0.165). The effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intention is thus mainly observed through the entrepreneurial motivation pathway.
