Implementasi Ekoteologi melalui Program Penanaman Bibit Pohon dalam Kegiatan KKN sebagai Upaya Pelestarian Lingkungan di Desa Paya Bengkuang, Kecamatan Gebang, Kabupaten Langkat
Abstract
Environmental degradation is an issue requiring attention from various stakeholders, including the local community, village government, educational institutions, and university students. From an Islamic perspective, environmental concern encompasses not only social and ecological aspects but also a theological dimension. Humans are viewed as khalifah (stewards) on earth, entrusted with the duty to maintain the balance and sustainability of nature. A tangible application of these values was demonstrated through a tree-planting program conducted as part of the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN)or Student Community Serviceprogram in Paya Bengkuang Village, Gebang District, Langkat Regency. The activity took place at the Paya Bengkuang Village Hall, involving village officials, local residents, and KKN students. The tree species planted included Mahogany, Mango, Matoa, Indian Almond (Ketapang), and Rambutan. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the tree-planting program served not merely as a greening initiative but also as a means to foster community awareness regarding the importance of environmental stewardship as a human responsibility toward Allah SWT. The involvement of students, village officials, and residents demonstrated a collaborative effort to create a greener and more sustainable environment. The program also provided educational value to the community concerning the importance of maintaining and caring for the trees after planting. Thus, the implementation of ecotheology through tree-planting activities within the KKN program represents a form of community service that integrates religious values, environmental concern, and social participation.
