Knowledge and skills of educators for inclusion in the age of education 5.0
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the knowledge and skills of teachers for the implementation and promotion of inclusion in the context of Education 5.0. An online survey was conducted on a sample of 277 active secondary school teachers from the Regions of Central and Western Macedonia and the Region of Thessaly. It was found that teachers need further education and training in areas related to the theory of inclusive education, such as its basic principles, but also its practical application, particularly through the use of new digital technologies, the development of appropriate teaching activities based on the specific characteristics of the students, and the development of educational material for students based on their cultural background. In order to design training and education programmes, it is necessary to conduct research among teachers themselves to identify the areas in which they believe they need further training. Future research could look at the views of teachers from public and private schools, as well as primary and secondary schools.
