RAM Analysis of 1-out-of-2: G Repairable System Under Load Sharing Effect Using Markov Approach

Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we have conducted the reliability-availability-maintainability (RAM) analysis of a 1-out-of-2: G repairable system using the Markovian approach. The system consists of two non-identical units and remains functional until both units fail. When a unit fails, the entire load of the system shifts to the remaining working unit, which puts additional strain on that unit and may affect its probability of failure. It is assumed that the failure and repair rates of the units are constant over time and are thus represented by an exponential distribution. We have formulated the Chapman–Kolmogorov differential equations from the Markov model of the system and, by solving these equations, obtained various reliability measures including system reliability, MTSF, availability, MTTR and maintainability. We have also conducted a profit analysis of the system. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to examine the impact of failure and repair rates on the system performance.

Dynamic Analysis of a 2-out-of-6:G Repairable System with Preventive Maintenance

This paper develops a 2-out-of-6:G repairable system with state-dependent preventive maintenance (PM) for functioning components. The 2-out-of-6:G configuration is adopted as a representative nontrivial case of the general k-out-of-n:G system, since it retains the essential features of component redundancy, multiple fa...

Semi-Markov Approach to Reliability Evaluation in Two-Unit Standby Repairable System with Priority in Use

Modern systems incorporate an increasing number of components performing complex functions, necessitating the development of adequate mathematical models for their reliability. Particular attention should be paid to mission-critical units, whose failure may lead to the breakdown of the entire system. Such priority unit...

Reliabilityand Availability of a Repairable k-Out-of-n System via Event-Triggered Maintenance Semi-Markovian Modelling Reinforcement Q-Learning, and Copula Repair

This paper develops a reliability and availability model for a repairable two-tier k-out-of-n computer network system. Four analytical components are combined: event-triggered repair intensification, Gumbel–Hougaard copula-based restoration, a semi-Markovian state-transition formulation, and a reinforcement Q-learning...

Optimizations problems for a k-out-of-n system under interval replacement

Abstract This paper studies interval replacement policies with minimal repair for the k-out-of-n system that consists of independent and identical components. The expected cost rate function of the k-out-of-n system was derived. The upper and lower limits of the optimal replacement interval were determined, and the opt...
