Abstract

In the wind tunnel tests of traditional rotating shaft balances, due to their structural characteristics, the rolling moment exhibits strong nonlinearity and interference between components. This paper aims to reduce the mutual interference of moments in wind tunnel tests and improve the balance accuracy by optimizing the structure of the rotating shaft balance. Based on the finite element simulation model of the rotating shaft balance, finite element calculations were performed on the new type of rotating shaft balance. The calculations verified the stiffness and strength of the balance, computed the first six natural frequencies, analyzed the stresses under various combined working conditions, and verified the fatigue safety factor and service life under combined working conditions. Interference comparison analysis was also conducted. The maximum interference on Mx was reduced by 87%, on My by 95%, and on Mz by 92%.
