Abstract
The study determined the effect of Government Accounting Reforms on Financial Performance of
State-Owned (Imo Air) Enterprises in Nigeria. Specifically, the study sought to; determine the
effect of Government Integrated Financial Management Information System on financial
performance of the State-Owned Enterprises in Nigeria, and ascertain the effect of Chart of
Accounts Harmonization reform on state Owned Enterprise performance. This study employed
an ex-post-facto research design. Data were obtained from the audited annual corporative
reports, Annual financial statements of the enterprises, Public Accounts Committee Reports,
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletins from 2012 to 2024. Descriptive statistics
and regression analysis were performed using Sigmaplot (version 15). The findings show that
GIFMIS contributes meaningfully to variations in financial performance among the enterprises
studied. The study also clearly indicated that this reform plays a meaningful role in influencing
financial outcomes among State-Owned Enterprises. Based on the results, the study
recommended among others that Imo air enterprises should strengthen internal financial
controls, with specific attention to improving EP, as this has shown meaningful influence on
Government Accounting Reforms.
