A geoeconomia dos BRICS+ e sua ascensão na economia global: uma ameaça ou uma necessidade para a nova ordem mundial
Abstract
Introduction: The expansion of BRICS+ has become a relevant expression of contemporary geoeconomic change because it increases the participation of emerging economies in debates on trade, development finance, settlement currencies and global governance. Objective: This study analyzes how the geoeconomic rise of BRICS+ influences the reconfiguration of the global economic order and the position of the United States, while considering implications for African economies such as Angola. Method: A qualitative, bibliographic, documentary, descriptive and reflective review was conducted using recent academic studies and institutional documents on BRICS enlargement, economic integration, the New Development Bank, de-dollarization, strategic resources and South–South cooperation. Results: The synthesis indicates that enlargement strengthens agenda-setting capacity and institutional diversification, although national interests, productive asymmetries and coordination costs continue to constrain collective action. Evidence supports gradual diversification rather than an immediate replacement of the existing monetary and institutional architecture. Conclusions: BRICS+ should be interpreted as a heterogeneous platform that can pressure and reform global governance while building complementary mechanisms. For Angola, opportunities depend on domestic institutional capacity, project quality, technological learning and productive transformation.
