Molecular Interaction Studies of Acoustic Parameters in α-Lipoic Acid with Vitamin B Systems
Abstract
This investigation evaluates the acoustic, thermodynamic, and physicochemical properties of binary mixed systems comprising modulators and active agents. Density and ultrasonic velocity studies were performed for the two constituents and for a-lipoic acid using the molarity method. From these investigations, appreciably different derived acoustical parameters were measured, and the interaction was also calculated. Van der Waals constant, Wada's constant, Rao's constant, Adiabatic compressibility, Acoustic impedance, and intermolecular free length were obtained. The dependence of these parameters upon temperature and molality was analysed to reveal molecular interactions. Ultrasonic velocity and acoustic impedance increasing with concentration may point to the strong solvent-solute interaction, whereas lower compressibility suggests the increased stiffness of the formed solute-solvent structure. The intensity implied that weak to medium interactions persist between molecules, such as hydrogen bonding and dipole interactions. This study is expected to enable wider applications to pharmaceutical and biochemical formulations with vitamins
