IoT-based Printed Circuit Board Condition Monitoring System using ESP8266 and Cloud-based Alert Mechanism
Abstract
This paper presents a PCB health monitoring system using IoT technology based on the ESP8266 Wi-Fi microcontroller. Temperature and vibration sensors continuously collect real-time data to assess the operational health of the PCB; excessive heat and mechanical stress are among the most common causes of electronic component failure. The acquired sensor data are wirelessly transmitted to the ThingSpeak cloud platform for real-time visualization and remote monitoring. When readings exceed predefined threshold limits, an automated SMS alert is immediately dispatched via the Twilio API to notify relevant personnel. Additionally, a cooling fan is automatically activated upon detection of high temperatures to prevent thermal damage. This system provides a cost-effective and efficient solution for proactive PCB health monitoring in industrial and commercial applications.
