Outsider Leadership in a Globalist, Interconnected, and Anti-Meritocratic World
Abstract
This article studies the establishment of the outsider leadership model to bring solutions by protecting the adept and marginalizing the inept. The current globalist leadership model does not work. The proliferation of wars, poverty, human rights violations, corruption, injustice, and health crises is evident. This study investigates outsider leadership as a new model of leadership that aims to restore justice, care, critique, and professionalism in the group or organization. We present a new model of leadership, the outsider leadership that aims to bring effective solutions by promoting the adept and alienating the inept. This leadership model provides a series of behaviors that consolidate a culture of justice, care, critique, and professionalism, to solve problems and restore success. A secondary research method is used where significant and influential primary research studies and literature on leadership have been evaluated and reviewed. The review of this narrative allowed the possibility to summarize and critique the selected works. Findings indicate the inefficiency of the most common leadership models, explained by a crisis of ethical and moral values that perpetuates problems and challenges. Findings also show that by implementing a series of moral and ethical values in the decision-making process of the group, new model of leadership arises, providing effective solutions. The outsider leadership model can be effective in restoring justice, competence, and professionalism in groups and organizations, establishing a culture where hard-working, competent, and efficient members are rewarded.
