Abstract

This paper presents a triple-band Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) transceiver with dual independent LO generators, optimized for low-power IoT applications. Fabricated in 22-nm ultra-low-leakage (uLL) CMOS with a compact RF core area of 4.35 mm2, the design features dedicated RF chains including cascode power amplifiers (PAs), single-ended low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), current-mode mixers, and a tightly integrated transimpedance amplifier (TZ) with programmable gain amplifier-low-pass filter (PGA-LPF). Measurements show transmitter error-vector magnitude (EVM) better than -35 dB up to +13.7 dBm output power for 80 MHz channels in the 5/6 GHz bands, and better than -44 dB for 40 MHz in the 2.4 GHz band. The receiver noise figure (NF) is 4.6 dB, 5.1 dB, and 7.3 dB for the 2.4/5/6 GHz bands, respectively. Power consumption is 50 mW (RX, 2.4 GHz) and 100 mW (RX, 5/6 GHz), while TX consumes 740 mW, 1523 mW, and 1615 mW for +20 dBm single-tone output at 2.4/5/6 GHz, respectively.
