Abstract

This research is based on the biomass power plant at PT. Permata Hijau Indonesia. This study investigates the flow of steam, the pressure of steam and electrical energy consumed by the fan, control panel and feed pump. This is where the biomass power plant is observed for its greatest operation condition. This is when the turbine starts up and the pump runs. Find out how the boiler operates by making X amount of steam at a given pressure. The boiler needs also electricity for the fan, the telecom and the feed pump. They analysed 24 hours of data to study the impact on a steam turbine when it remains idle and while working. While not working the steam flow and pressure from turbine is low enough. It means the system isn't really ready to go. The boiler reaches a steady state when the turbine is running. Steam flow and pressure stabilize. Auxiliary units operate on a constant level of electricity. This is almost identical to what happens when the system is running normally. That means the system can support the turbine during continuous operation. It is also able to make the transition from startup to steady state seamlessly. The biomass power plant at PT. Permata Hijau Indonesia and the boiler worked in good harmony during ideal operation condition. The steam flow and the steam pressure also meet at level and electrical power spent.
