Educational strategies for sustainable entrepreneurship education: A systematic literature review

Sep 2026 · Multidisciplinary Reviews · 0 citations · 23 references

Abstract

The growing urgency of environmental problems has increased the need for education that connects environmental literacy, ethical reasoning, and entrepreneurial action. Previous studies have discussed sustainability education and entrepreneurship education from different perspectives, but the evidence remains dispersed across pedagogical models, educational contexts, and institutional settings. This systematic literature review synthesizes educational strategies that support sustainable entrepreneurship education. The review followed the PRISMA framework and searched Scopus and Google Scholar for studies published between 2020 and 2025. After screening 945 records, seven studies met the inclusion criteria. Study quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. The findings show that green entrepreneurship curricula, experiential learning, digital pedagogy, ethics based education, and policy supported learning environments are the main strategies used to strengthen environmental awareness, sustainability values, entrepreneurial self efficacy, and green entrepreneurial intention. These strategies are more meaningful when applied as integrated learning systems rather than isolated instructional activities. This review contributes by clarifying how environmental literacy and entrepreneurship education can be connected through curriculum, pedagogy, values, technology, and institutional support. The review also acknowledges the limited number of included studies and highlights the need for broader comparative, longitudinal, and mixed method research.
