Abstract

: This paper presents the implementation of the extension project “Connecting Futures – Phase 2”, developed by students in the 7th and 8th semesters of the Industrial Engineering program, with the aim of promoting the development of competencies related to career planning, personal organization, time management, and problem-solving among secondary school students. The initiative was carried out in a public school in the municipality of Pinheiral, Rio de Janeiro, involving the participation of 35 students through the implementation of two training workshops structured using active learning methodologies. The methodological approach is characterized as qualitative and descriptive, configured as an experience report. The activities included the use of self-awareness tools, goal setting through the SMART methodology, as well as the application of digital resources and time management techniques, such as the Eisenhower Matrix and the Pomodoro Method. The results demonstrated a high level of participant engagement, as well as the ability to connect the content addressed with previously acquired knowledge, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship. Additionally, a positive impact was observed in the education of the participating university students, especially in the development of competencies such as communication, leadership, and adaptability. It is concluded that extension initiatives promoting integration between higher education and basic education significantly contribute to the construction of meaningful learning and to the development of professionals better prepared for contemporary challenges.
