Abstract
The development of highly efficient, durable, and cost-effective electrocatalysts is essential for enhancing the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance in an alkaline water electrolysis. Herein, we report the synthesis of FeS2–Co3O4 heterojunction electrocatalysts supported on nickel foam via a hydrothermal method. Electrochemical evaluations conducted in 1.0 M KOH reveal that the optimized FeS2–Co3O4/NF-2 catalyst delivers an overpotential as low as 89 mV at 10 mA cm–2, along with a Tafel slope of 34.7 mV dec–1. Moreover, chronopotentiometric tests at constant current densities of 10 and 50 mA cm–2 for 50 h show negligible potential drift, demonstrating outstanding OER activity and long-term operational stability. Experimental evidence further confirms that the well-defined heterointerface between FeS2 and Co3O4 effectively modulates the interfacial charge distribution and optimizes the electronic configuration of active sites, thereby boosting intrinsic OER kinetics. This study offers a feasible and scalable route for the rational design of nonprecious-metal heterojunction electrocatalysts toward efficient OER applications.
The creation of electrocatalysts composed of nonprecious metals, which must be efficient, durable, and economical, constitutes a major scientific hurdle for achieving practical overall water splitting (OWS). In this study, a layered Ni2P–Fe2P–Co2P nanoarray electrocatalyst was fabricated on nickel foam (NF) using NiF...

ABSTRACT The water electrolysis is one of the key processes for producing hydrogen—a clean and sustainable energy carrier. However, its wide application onto the industrial scale still lack of the long‐lasting and highly efficient electrocatalysts for the kinetically sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Here, we d...
