Abstract
This study analysed entrepreneurship implementation skills possessed by business education
students for entrepreneurial activities. The primary aim of this study was to assess the
essential entrepreneurial competencies such as business planning and financial management
skills possessed by business education students for handling entrepreneurial activities. The
study used two research questions and two hypotheses that was tested at 0.05 level of
significance. A descriptive survey research design was used in the study and the population
comprised all Business Education Students in Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu
Alike. A total population of 350 students was obtained through departmental records; and a
purposive sample of 150 students who owns entrepreneurial firms were used in the study. The
instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire, validated by experts and pre
tested for reliability and a Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.76, and 0.84 were obtained
indicating high reliability. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean scores
and standard deviations, while inferential statistics, specifically Independent Samples t-test,
was used to test the hypotheses. Findings revealed that business education students possessed
business planning and financial management skills necessary for handling entrepreneurial
success. It was also found in the study that, no significant gender differences were observed
in skills possessed, as male and female students demonstrated comparable competencies
across all measured areas. In conclusion, the study emphasized the importance of practical
entrepreneurial training in enhancing business readiness and effectiveness. Thus, the
researchers recommend that strengthening entrepreneurship training programs in business
education curricula will equip students with skills required for successful business ventures.
