The VSTS‐CC software overcomes the limitations of time, space, cost and safety in traditional experimental operations, providing a generalizable digital practical teaching solution for abstract engineering courses such as nonlinear systems.

Abstract

To address the core pain points of abstract theories, high equipment costs, significant experimental risks and insufficient immersion of traditional simulation tools in chaotic circuit experimental teaching for electronic information and control engineering majors, this study focuses on chaotic circuit experiments in nonlinear systems. By integrating virtual reality (VR) technology and the Unity3D engine, a virtual simulation teaching software for chaotic circuits (VSTS‐CC) for higher education is developed. VSTS‐CC is modeled with 3dsMax. The interactive logic is implemented using the Elegant Target (ET) framework and C# to construct an immersive experimental environment. It supports core functions such as theoretical learning, experimental operation, and assessment feedback, and is released in both. exe and WebGL versions. In this study, a multi‐dimensional evaluation was conducted on 60 undergraduate students. The average score of the System Usability Scale (SUS) reached 86.2, and users provided positive feedback on functionality, reliability, and experience satisfaction. Controlled experiments show that the experimental group using this software achieved significantly better final scores than the control group with traditional teaching, effectively improving knowledge mastery and learning efficiency. Finally, the improvement directions including performance optimization, experience upgrading and teaching function enhancement are proposed. The VSTS‐CC software overcomes the limitations of time, space, cost and safety in traditional experimental operations, providing a generalizable digital practical teaching solution for abstract engineering courses such as nonlinear systems.
