Abstract
The article examines the form-semantic groups of phraseological units with sentence structure in Modern Armenian, namely synonymous, antonymous, homonymous, and parony-mous sentence-type phraseological units. As meaning-bearing units of the communicative level of language within the syntactic system, sentence-type phraseological units make speech more figurative and possess essential features characteristic of ordinary sentences, namely predication, intonation, and completeness of thought. Synonymous sentence-type phraseological units have identical or similar meanings and are divided into units with identical meanings and units with similar meanings. Sentence-type phraseological units with absolutely identical meanings are few, whereas those with similar meanings exhibit a number of differences, including the number and composition of the components of the synonymic series, as well as semantic differences determined by degree of intensity, scope, internal conceptual content, and expressiveness. Antonymous sentence-type phra-seological units may have either identical or different structures, different intonational patterns, and antonymous components. Homonymous sentence-type phraseological units are examined according to the grounds for the emergence of homonymy, including the polysemy of phraseological components, differences in intonation, the different causes of the situations expressed by the phraseological unit, and other factors. Paronymous sentence-type phraseological units may or may not have certain semantic or etymological connections. They are presented in the article in order to provide a comprehensive account of the form-semantic groups and to ensure their correct use in speech.
