EFFECT OF TRIPHENYLPHOSPHONIUM CHLORIDE ON HEMATOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF RATS UPON LONG-TERM EXPOSURE
Abstract
Phosphonium derivatives, including triphenylphosphonium chloride, are widely used in organic synthesis, polymer stabilization, and the pharmaceutical industry, which determines their presence in the environment. These compounds have a pronounced biological activity, which opens up prospects for their use in veterinary practice. However, the toxicological profile of triphenylphosphonium remains poorly understood. The purpose of this study is a comprehensive assessment of the hematological parameters of rats under prolonged exposure to triphenylphosphonium to substantiate the possibility of its use in veterinary medicine. As a result of the conducted studies, it was found that the degree of influence of triphenylphosphonium chloride on the hematological parameters of white rats depends on the dose of the drug. The most pronounced changes were observed when the drug was administered at a dose of 1/10 of LD50 (833 mg/kg): by day 30. erythrocytes decreased by 2.3%, hemoglobin - by 12.7%, hematocrit - by 12.3%, leukocytes - by 33.2%, neutrophils - by 24%, lymphocytes - by 38.5% and platelets - by 28%. The drug at a dose of 1/20 caused moderate changes, and at a dose of 1/50, most of the indicators did not significantly differ from the control, or were minimal.
