Contenders for the Andre Simon Awards, 1998

Abstract

The author was Assessor for the Andre Simon Memorial Fund Book Awards 1998. At the ceremony at which the prizes were announced and presented she made a short speech in which she analysed the food books which she had surveyed for the judges. We and others who were present found this highly interesting. It seems to us to represent information which would also be useful to future food historians and chroniclers of culinary literature. So we asked her if we could print her text in PPC. This is it, slightly expanded for this different audience.
