GREEN JOBS IN THE RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR: INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR TAJIKISTAN
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the development of green jobs in the renewable energy sector. The aim of the study is to examine international experience and identify priority areas for the development of green employment in hydropower, solar and wind energy, as well as to assess the opportunities available to the Republic of Tajikistan in this area. Based on analytical data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the International Labour. Organization, the World Bank, and the International Energy Agency, it is shown that global employment in the renewable energy sector reached 16.6 million people by 2024. However, its distribution across countries and technological areas remains uneven. The article compares the government experience of the European Union, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States, and China in managing investments in this sector. Using the SWOT analysis method, the hydropower, solar, and wind energy potential of Tajikistan is examined, of which less than 5 percent is currently being utilized. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the proposed four-component model for the development of green employment in Tajikistan, comprising institutional, financial, educational and skills-related, and infrastructural components. The findings of the study can be used in the development of state programs for renewable energy development and in reforming the country's technical and vocational education system.
