Abstract

This article examines the development of communication in team interaction among employees of small enterprises, taking into account employees’ behavioral characteristics. Particular attention is paid to the use of the DISC behavioral approach to characterize and systematize employees’ behavioral tendencies when organizing team interaction. The aim of the study is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of communication in team interaction among employees of small enterprises using the DISC behavioral approach and to develop a conceptual model for managing such communication. The study is grounded in organizational behavior, team building and communication management. DISC is viewed as a behavioral approach to characterizing D, I, S and C tendencies, rather than as a specific standardized psychometric instrument. Information about employees’ behavioral tendencies is considered a basis for management decisions regarding communication in team interaction. Theoretical generalization, systemic and comparative analysis, classification and systematization, structural-logical modelling and conceptual design were applied. Contemporary approaches to communication in team interaction were synthesized and the characteristics of DISC behavioral tendencies systematized. A methodological sequence was substantiated for transforming this information into management decisions concerning potential communication risks, adaptation of communication methods, feedback and coordination of team interaction. The proposed conceptual model integrates these decisions into an iterative communication management process. The theoretical significance lies in integrating behavioral and communication approaches to communication management in team interaction. The model can be used by managers of small enterprises and HR specialists. The scientific novelty of the study lies in advancing the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of communication in team interaction among employees of small enterprises based on the DISC behavioral approach, which involves considering behavioral tendencies when identifying communication risks, adapting communication methods, and coordinating team interaction. The theoretical and methodological nature of the model limits the study; its empirical testing in small enterprises is a direction for further research. Article type: theoretical.
