Abstract

In the fast-changing business landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool, providing a strategic and operational advantage, predictive capabilities, resource management, process optimization, and adaptability. The changing business landscape has created some economic uncertainty, technological competition, and digital transformation, which has led to a growing number of businesses adopting AI-powered systems to enhance the quality of their decision-making processes and ensure sustainable business performance. In this paper, the issue of AI as a system of integrated enterprise decision support is explored, and the influence of AI on the processes of managerial decision making, conditions of implementation, organizational constraints and the future development of AI are highlighted. The research is structured literature review and conceptual synthesis with comparative analysis and conceptual modelling of latest research on AI, digital transformation, strategic management, organisational readiness, AI governance and Industry 5.0. In conclusion, the synthesis reveals that AI can not only automate but also improve information processing, help with predictions, analyze scenarios, identify threats, and assist with adaptive decision-making to benefit organizations. But, crucial organizational factors to complement effective AI-enabled decision support are digital maturity, sound data governance, human capital capabilities, cybersecurity, and responsible AI governance. Based on the study, a conceptual integrated framework linking AI capability, integration into the decision process, human–AI collaboration, decision quality, and enterprise performance and sustainable competitive advantage is proposed. The study also highlights a conceptual shift towards seeing AI as a decision-supporting capability that complements, not supplants, managerial judgment. Results offer theoretical and managerial insights for organizations that want to develop AI-based decision systems that are responsible, adaptive, and resilient.
