Evaluation of the effectiveness of using a dental paste with an extract of thyme, propolis, sodium phosphorus and hydroxyapatite (RDA 75) in patients with mild chronic periodontitis after laser decontamination of periodontal pockets
Abstract
The prevalence of periodontal disease among the population remains high every year. Prevention and treatment of this pathology are central to dental practice. Significant progress has been made in the treatment of periodontal disease. While laser techniques offer the potential to significantly improve treatment outcomes, the search for new, effective home oral hygiene solutions for patients with periodontal disease remains urgent. In our study, we used a diode laser-based periodontal pocket decontamination method and two types of toothpaste. Patients were divided into two groups of 30 depending on the toothpaste used. The study showed that patients using “PresiDENT EXCLUSIVE toothpaste for gum inflammation” (RDA 75) demonstrated the greatest reduction in digital hygiene and periodontal indices, as well as an average 1 mm change in periodontal pocket depth. With equal initial bleeding index and BoP values, after 90 days of using the study toothpastes, positive changes in index values were noted in both groups, but were most pronounced in patients in the first group. Hemodynamics, as measured by mean systolic velocity, increased in all areas of the periodontium, but to a greater extent due to exposure to the LED laser and the use of “PresiDENT EXCLUSIVE” toothpaste during the 3-month observation period.
