Abstract
Noncovalent porous crystals with superior processability have recently received intense attention due to their vast emerging applications. However, the construction of such materials is still extremely incidental and lacks a fine control. Herein, we develop a unique strategy using three-dimensional nanographenes with tunable bulky configurations to adaptively fabricate a series of noncovalent porous crystals. Stereospecific nanographenes with either unilateral or bilateral curved [1,4]diazocine domains are obtained by Scholl cyclization of tetracarbazole precursors bearing diverse substituents. Leveraging the multiple intrinsic concavities variably constructed by the rigid octagons and flexible carbazole groups, these nanographenes readily self-assemble into noncovalent porous crystals featuring straight one-dimensional, zigzag one-dimensional, or interconnected two-dimensional channels. Interestingly, coassembly with other aromatic derivatives such as pyrene further facilitates the construction of porous cocrystals from porosity-absent building blocks. Moreover, upon coassembly with fullerenes, the long-range charge-transfer interactions endow the resulting porous cocrystals with conducting properties.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are promising polymeric photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen evolution, yet their performance is often hampered by tightly bound excitons that suppress efficient charge separation. Herein, we present a linkage engineering strategy that directly attenuates excitonic effects throu...

The assembly of nanotubes into 3D superstructures that combine high active-site density with efficient mass transport remains a significant challenge. Conventional silica nanotubes tend to tangle and form disordered aggregates, burying functional interfaces and limiting practical applications. Herein, we introduce a hi...

The controllable regulation of dimensionality and interpenetration in covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is crucial for optimizing photocatalytic performance, yet the translation of 3D COFs from structural construction to functional customization remains challenging. Here, we successfully designed a series of mortise-a...
A simple one-step route for designing three covalently bonded porous organosilica polymers via tandem condensation, bearing an adjustable triazine moiety and N–Si cooperative microenvironments, has been reported for the first time. In contrast to the traditional methods that rely on prefabricated supports or postsynt...
