Integrative taxonomy revealed four new species and four new records of the genus Hydropsyche from China (Trichoptera, Hydropsychidae)

Abstract

Four new species of the genus Hydropsyche Pictet, 1834 from China are diagnosed, described and illustrated, based on male genitalia: Hydropsyche bangwanglingensis Ge, sp. nov ., Hydropsyche yangae Ge, sp. nov ., Hydropsyche suni Ge, sp. nov . and Hydropsyche zhouzhiensis Ge, sp. nov . In addition, four species are reported as new records from China. Meanwhile, morphological characters of four new species are compared with those of related species. Furthermore, mtCOI barcode sequences were obtained for these new species and phylogenetic trees of known congeneric species were inferred to elucidate their species group affiliations.
