A new genus and new species of Bradybaeninae (Gastropoda, Camaenidae) from Yunnan Province, China
Abstract
The Yunnan region of China is home to a rich diversity of species from the family Camaenidae. A new genus and species of land snail, Yuyao heyuemingi Z.-Y. Wang, H.-Q. Xiang, Y.-Z. Lu & H. Zheng, gen. et sp. nov ., is described from Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, based on comparative morphological and molecular phylogenetic evidence. This species has a unique conical shell with red-brown bands and an acute keel on the periphery. It shares certain morphological similarities with some species of the genera Plectotropis Martens, 1860, Satsuma Adams, 1868, Ganesella Blanford, 1863, and Globotrochus Haas, 1935. However, significant genetic differentiation and distinctive genital morphology strongly support its establishment as a new genus and species.
