Abstract

This essay is written in memoriam of Val Kim, a relatively unknown young migrant activist, who tragically died last year at the age of 32. Inasmuch as her premature death caused pain to her family and friends, it can also be regarded from a wider perspective: her precarious existence can be representative of one that many immigrants that lack financial or cultural capital are forced to live. In addition, since activism presupposes collective effort, I believe it is important to mark Valeria’s work in grassroots organizations: International Feminists United, Socialistická solidarita and Sdruženy.
