Rekonstruksi Makna Tradisi Bhan Ghiban dalam Pernikahan Madura Perspektif Tafsir Maudhu'i
Abstract
This study aims to reconstruct the meaning of the Bhan Ghiban tradition in Madurese marriage through a thematic (maudhu'i) interpretation of Qur'anic verses concerning marital responsibility and maintenance (nafkah). Employing a qualitative library research design, the study combines thematic Qur'anic exegesis with socio-cultural analysis of the Bhan Ghiban tradition. Data were collected from the Qur'an, classical and contemporary tafsir literature, and scholarly works on Madurese marriage customs. The findings reveal that Bhan Ghiban, as the presentation of household goods from the groom's family to the bride, symbolizes the husband's readiness to fulfill his financial obligations and establish a stable family life. The tradition is consistent with Qur'anic values of responsibility, justice, and family welfare, provided it remains free from excessive burdens, social coercion, and practices that contradict Islamic principles.
