Abstract

A simple, accurate and sensitive method to estimate spiramycin in  pure  and  pharmaceutical preparations, the method is based on the oxidation of the pharmaceutical compounds in a neutral medium using a known excess of the oxidizing agent N-Bromosuccinimide(NBS), then estimating the remaining oxidizing agent based on its ability to belching  the color of the Rose Bengal B dye by measuring the absorption  at  540 nm , the absorption of the dye increases linearity with increasing concentration of the pharmaceutical compounds within the range(0.2- 25.0 µg.ml-1) with molar absorptivity of (2.8X104 L.mole-1.Cm-1  ),with recovery range 96-104% ,LOD,LOQ were 0.0417 ,0.139  µg.ml-1 respectively the method was in agreement with the standard method adopted in the British Pharmacopoeia and the standard addition method.
