DETERMINANTES SOCIAIS DA SAÚDE E TECNOLOGIAS DIGITAIS
Abstract
This article conducts an in-depth literature review on the role of the Unified Health System (SUS) amidst contemporary challenges, highlighting the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in local public policies. It analyzes SUS financing, regionalization, and management, as well as the implementation of ICTs in municipalities characterized by social disparities, such as Salvador. Key findings indicate significant progress but also reveal structural limitations and inequalities regarding access to and use of technologies—inequalities that both reflect and exacerbate existing social disparities. The study identifies a need for public policies that foster digital inclusion, professional training, and participatory governance. A notable limitation is the absence of direct empirical research, pointing to the need for future qualitative and quantitative studies. Continued research into the impact of ICTs on health equity and the promotion of interdisciplinary approaches to strengthen the SUS are recommended. The methodology employed was a systematized literature review, encompassing books, scientific articles, and both national and international official documents.
