Long-term therapy with dupilumab in treatment of polypous rhinosinusitis: treatment results and possible adverse reactions
Abstract
Abstract. Recurrent polypous rhinosinusitis, resistant to standard therapy, is a health problem worldwide. Recently, genetically engineered immunological drugs (GEIDs) have been used to treat recurrent polypous rhinosinusitis, which has helped to achieve disease control, avoid repeated surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses, thereby reducing the workload of the surgical hospital. In addition, this led to an improvement in the patient’s quality of life: improved nasal breathing, olfaction, and emotional state. GEID therapy is long-term and continuous, since there is a risk of rapid relapse of the disease when treatment is discontinued. Given the specifics of the treatment, dynamic monitoring of the patient’s condition is necessary, since there is a risk of developing unwanted side effects, both previously known and individual. The integration of new treatment methods with a personalized approach and interdisciplinary control is a key factor in improving the quality of medical care for severe forms of polypous rhinosinusitis.
