Abstract

Classical Islamic educational thought has made a significant contribution to the development of Islamic education, notably through the ideas of Al-Qābisī. Although his thoughts have been extensively studied regarding objectives, curriculum, methods, and educators, previous studies have not comprehensively examined the nexus between religious formation and students' life skills. This article aims to analyze Al-Qābisī’s educational thought by focusing on the integration of religious education and life skills development. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, utilizing academic literature databases (Google Scholar, Garuda) and classical texts. The primary source is Al-Qābisī's work, Al-Risâlah Al-Mufashshilah, supported by relevant secondary sources. The findings indicate that education according to Al-Qābisī is oriented toward faith, morality, and religious practice, integrated with practical skills development through the classification of ijbârî (obligatory) and ikhtiyârî (optional) curricula. The novelty of this research lies in reconstructing an integration framework that bridges spiritual orientation with practical readiness through curriculum synergy, tiered learning methods, educator exemplification, and family educational continuity. These findings offer a conceptual contribution to the development of contemporary Islamic education in addressing moral crises and practical skill demands in the modern era.
