Professional ethics in arts education and society: Implications for moral development and national transformation

Oct 2026 · Aminu Kano Academic Scholars Association Multidisciplinary Journal · 0 citations

Abstract

This paper assessed professional ethics in arts education and society. Professional ethics is becoming the need of the hour, particularly within educational institutions where teachers and practitioners are expected to demonstrate high standards of integrity, responsibility, fairness, and commitment to their professional duties. Many institutions are facing a lack of professional ethics in arts education, despite having personnel with sufficient degrees, achievements, medals, extra qualifications, and content knowledge. Since arts education is not just about imparting content and subject matter, it goes beyond the transmission of knowledge to include the development of values, attitudes, creativity, social responsibility, and positive character. Hence, this paper makes an effort to establish the fact that ethics and professionalism in arts education are basic tools that can promote educational development, social transformation, cultural preservation, and social reconstruction. The paper asserts that education is a conditio sine qua non for the development of any country and that meaningful development can only be achieved through the promotion of ethical values, professional competence, accountability, and best practices. The paper further posits that development and social reconstruction can only take place in a society where every aspect of human knowledge has an inbuilt ethical mechanism and professional standard. It concludes that strengthening ethical principles in arts education can enhance professional practice, improve educational outcomes, and contribute significantly to the development of responsible and productive members of society.
