Pendampingan Masyarakat dalam Pengembangan Interpretasi Wisata Berbasis Cerita Lokal di Desa Parakan Garokgek Purwakarta
Abstract
Parakan Garokgek Village has historical, cultural, artistic, culinary, craft, agricultural, and landscape resources that could support tourism development. However, local knowledge remained dispersed across residents, was largely transmitted orally, and had not been organised into visitor-oriented narratives. This community service programme assisted residents in documenting and transforming local stories into preliminary tourism interpretation products. Fifteen participants representing the tourism awareness group and the local community joined a participatory programme comprising needs assessment, story mapping, initial source validation, thematic interpretation and storytelling training, group product development, simulation, and feedback. Evidence was collected from observations, worksheets, draft products, facilitation notes, and activity documentation and was analysed descriptively. The programme produced an initial story inventory, four narrative package prototypes, and three communication posters. Participants began to distinguish factual information from interpretive themes, connect stories with places and local actors, and consider audiences, permissions, and cultural sensitivity. These outcomes remain preliminary. The story inventory requires further verification, while routes, duration, safety, pricing, actor readiness, and visitor responses have not been tested systematically. The next stage should prioritise community validation, limited visitor trials, guide practice, and a simple mechanism for maintaining and updating the story inventory. The programme demonstrates how participatory assistance can establish an initial structure for community-controlled tourism interpretation while keeping claims of market and economic readiness proportionate to the available evidence.
