Abstract
Smartphone use while walking reduces environmental awareness and can lead to accidents and injury, yet existing obstacle-awareness systems remain unadopted because they require users to hold the phone upright and aimed forward, conflicting with how people actually hold their devices. We introduce GlanceAR, an always-on mobile obstacle-awareness system designed for natural phone-holding postures. GlanceAR utilizes a low-cost passive mirror attachment to redirect the phone's rear LiDAR and RGB camera forward without additional electronic components. In a within-subjects study with N=11 participants navigating indoor and outdoor obstacle courses while engaged in a primary on-phone task, we evaluated three sensing configurations: GlanceAR, a LiDAR-only variant for privacy, and an attachment-free ultra-wide camera baseline. Our findings reveal trade-offs among sensing fidelity, obstacle cue design, and social acceptability, and surface insights around AI complacency and the tension between on-screen task focus and physical safety.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.

AI agents can generate code at a scale that’s hard for humans to review line-by-line. PDD Kit helps ensure the code is doing what the developer intended by creating formal specifications and testing against them. It converts developer intent into a Verus specification, proves AI-generated code meets it for every input, and uses tests where proofs aren't practical. Developers review intent, not every line.
