Abstract

Fatigue assessment of existing steel railroad bridges is required to extend service life while ensuring structural safety. In contrast to new structures, the as‐built conditions, historical materials and construction methods of existing railroad bridges must be considered. Therefore, there are specific guidelines for assessing existing railroad bridges.
