A Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah-Based Digital Reputation Framework for Building Generation Z’s Trust in Islamic Philanthropic Institutions
Abstract
Abstract  Purpose: This study proposes a Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah-based digital reputation framework for building Generation Z’s trust in Islamic philanthropic institutions. It addresses the limited conceptual integration of digital governance, digital reputation, and Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah in explaining trust formation within digital Islamic philanthropy.Design/Methodology: The study employs a qualitative integrative literature review within a library research approach. The analysis draws on 21 substantive scholarly sources, comprising peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, an institutional report, and an academic thesis published or selected based on relevance to digital reputation, digital governance, Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, Generation Z’s trust, and Islamic philanthropy. The literature was analyzed through thematic categorization, critical comparison, and conceptual synthesis.Findings: The synthesis conceptualizes digital governance practices—including transparency, accountability, information integrity, data protection, and social impact reporting—as dimensions that may shape digital reputation. Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah is positioned as the ethical and normative foundation for evaluating these practices, while digital reputation is conceptualized as a linking mechanism that may contribute to Generation Z’s trust.Practical Implications: The framework may provide a preliminary reference for Islamic philanthropic institutions in developing ethically grounded digital governance.Originality/Value: The study integrates digital governance, digital reputation, and Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah into a unified conceptual framework focused specifically on Generation Z’s trust.
