MAPEANDO A NEGRITUDE NOS GRUPOS DE PESQUISA
Abstract
This research is situated within the context of the struggles against structural and institutional racism and the strengthening of affirmative action policies in Brazilian public universities. It stems from the understanding that the presence of Black individuals in Higher Education challenges the colonial logic that has historically organized the university institution, demanding not only the expansion of access but also the transformation of practices, epistemologies, and institutional structures. The objective of this article is to analyze and reflect on actions developed in a Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) at a public university in São Paulo, aimed at building an anti-racist education and strengthening the theme of Blackness in the field of educational research. Methodologically, this study is characterized as a report and a descriptive documentary analysis, based on data from the CNPq Research Groups Directory collected between August 2024 and October 2025. Seventy-three groups linked to descriptors related to Blackness and ethnic-racial relations were identified, with a greater concentration in the Southeast and Northeast regions and significant growth since 2006. Institutional initiatives at Unesp are highlighted, such as the creation of NUPE, CAADI, and PROADE, as well as internal actions of the PPGE, including the reorganization of research lines, the offering of specific courses, the implementation of racial quotas in the selection process, and the creation of a research group dedicated to the topic. It is concluded that the strengthening of interinstitutional networks and the continuous improvement of anti-racist practices are central elements for the consolidation of a democratic, plural public university committed to racial equity.
