The relevance of chinese development for dependent countries of Latin America

Sep 2026 · REVISTA DELOS · 0 citations

Abstract

The article examines Chinese political transformation and modernization as a potential indication of an alternative path to the current order in Latin American economies, particularly in Brazil. This process reveals that national political definitions that align with the interests inherent in capitalist logic can evade the pattern imposed by the interstate system in effect since the post-Second World War, particularly the imposition of policies used by UN agencies and organs to promote 'good practices' in national state policies. This system embodies the hegemony of a bourgeois-democratic Western vision and a universal perspective. The theoretical basis is the conception of the development of the global system as 'unequal and combined', in the original terms of Lenin and Trotsky, and qualified for the countries of Latin America by Ruy Mauro Marini and exponents of the Marxist Theory of Dependence. The hypothesis is that social transformation in Latin America is not trivial, but rather possible, as long as a path of national autonomy is followed, which requires significant cultural changes and effective political representation.
