Abstract
Indonesia is known as one of the countries with the highest levels of biodiversity in the world, including in the use of plants as traditional medicinal ingredients by various local communities. Unfortunately, the scientific documentation regarding the inventory and patterns of its utilization is still fragmentary and not yet comprehensively organized. This study uses a systematic literature review method by examining 60 national scientific articles that focus on the inventory of traditional medicinal plants in Indonesia. The secondary data obtained were analyzed descriptively qualitatively to map the diversity of species, dominant plant families, commonly utilized plant parts, and the various diseases treated. The analysis results show that the local community has recognized at least 20 species of medicinal plants in their treatment practices, with leaves and rhizomes being the most frequently used parts. The health conditions most commonly addressed include fever, headaches, digestive disorders, skin diseases, hypertension, diabetes, and pain. This knowledge is derived from empirical traditions passed down thru generations and holds significant potential as a foundation for the development of evidence-based herbal medicine while also supporting national biodiversity conservation efforts.
