Longitudinal incision technique for endoscopic removal of intragastric balloon: a case report.
Abstract
Background
Obesity, defined as the abnormal or excessive expansion of white adipose tissue, is a chronic disease with a complex etiopathogenesis that is increasing globally. Among endoscopic bariatric procedures for treating obesity, intragastric balloon (IGB) placement is a notable option. CASE PRESENTATION In this case report, we describe a case of complex endoscopic removal of an IGB, which required the use of a longitudinal incision of the device by surgical scissors and foreign body forceps.
Conclusions
In cases of complicated endoscopic removal of IGB, the use of an alternative technique compared to the standard procedure is recommended.
