Abstract

Weak science process skills, limited experimental activities, inadequate laboratory equipment, and the continued use of conventional lecture-based instruction remain key challenges in science learning at MTsN 1 Kota Kediri. In response to these issues, this study aims to develop Seismoedukit as a learning medium to support the improvement of students’ science process skills on the topic of Earth’s structure and its development by examining its feasibility, validity, reliability, and effectiveness. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE model and involved media, material, and learning expert validators, as well as 33 students from class VIII H. Data were collected through initial observations, interviews, validation instruments, and a Science Process Skills (SPS) questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using feasibility percentage analysis, Aiken’s V formula, and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The findings show that Seismoedukit is highly feasible for learning use, with an expert validation score of 92.5%, very strong validity with an Aiken’s V value of 0.90, and acceptable reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.682. The use of Seismoedukit also improved students’ science process skills after the learning activities were completed. These findings indicate that Seismoedukit is a valid, reliable, feasible, and effective learning medium for supporting science learning, particularly in strengthening students’ science process skills on the topic of Earth’s structure. This study contributes to the development of practical experimental learning media for science education in contexts with limited laboratory facilities.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
