Implementation of a Web-Based Material Inventory Management Information System at PT Madya Puji Rahayu

Abstract

Material inventory management at PT. Madya Puji Rahayu, a manufacturing company that processes raw materials into semi-finished products according to customer requirements, is still carried out manually using notebooks and simple worksheets. This condition causes delayed recording of incoming and outgoing goods, stock calculation errors, difficulties in data retrieval, slow reporting due to repeated manual recapitulation, and a high risk of damage or loss of physical documents. Procurement processes consisting of Purchase Request and Purchase Order, Goods Receipt, Goods Issue to production, Quality Control, and shipment of goods are still not recorded in one integrated system. This study aims to design and implement a web-based material inventory management information system that integrates the entire inventory workflow of PT. Madya Puji Rahayu in a single platform. The system was developed using the Agile method with the Scrum framework, which includes iterative planning, design, development, testing, and review. System modeling was carried out using Unified Modeling Language diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagram, and Logical Record Structure, while the application was built using the Laravel framework with a MySQL database. The resulting system covers master data management, procurement workflows with an approval mechanism, automatic stock updates, real-time inventory monitoring dashboard, automatic document printing, and role-based access control for three levels of users. System validation was conducted using Black-box Testing on the front-end interface involving five prospective users across six function groups and on the back-end administration involving two authorized roles, and all tested scenarios achieved a success rate of 100%. The implementation of the system accelerates transaction recording, reduces input errors, provides stock information in real time, and produces structured reports faster, thereby improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of material inventory management at PT. Madya Puji Rahayu.
